Introduction

A friend of mine invited me to try Village Burger, which just opened in Alpharetta. I love a good burger, so I am always excited to try a new place and see its accessibility. I was very impressed with both the food and how open and accessible the restaurant was.

Finding the Place

Village Burger is visible from the street. It is easy to find with GPS.

Score 5

Parking

Village Burger has a good-sized parking lot. There are two accessible parking spots in the front of the building that have space for a ramp to be let down. There is an additional accessible parking space on the side of the building. Both accessible spots are near a ramp that leads to the entrance of the restaurant.

Score 5

The Entrance

There are two entrances to Village Burger. The main entrance has two doors that open outward. The side entrance has one door that opens outward. Both entrances provide plenty of space for my wheelchair to pass through.

Score 5

Inside the Restaurant

The interior of Village Burger has one of the most open and accessible dining rooms I have seen in a long time. The tables are very spread out, making it easier for someone in a wheelchair to move through the restaurant. Another helpful feature is that the tables and chairs can be moved around to provide greater seating options.

Score 5

Menu

To order at Village Burger, you go up to the counter. The menu is printed on a board behind the counter. I found it easy to read. I am not sure if there was a paper menu to look at.

Score 4

Village Burger Staff

The Village Burger staff was very friendly and accommodating to us. When we went up to the counter, they made an effort to understand me and repeated my order back to me for clarification. While we were eating, the staff periodically checked to see if we needed anything. The manager, Michael, also introduced himself and checked on us. The staff made it a fantastic experience. Score 5

Village Burger has done a tremendous job in accommodating the needs of people who have disabilities. The restaurant is extremely accessible, and the staff truly cares about their customers’ needs. I highly recommend Village Burger and will be adding it to my regular restaurant rotation.
