Anybody can work and be accepted into the work environment, says Christine Dendy, 2026 Luminary Award Recipient. Christine’s story with Bobby Dodd Institute traces back decades. She began as a service participant, worked as a VA switchboard operator, and later as a contractor for the organization, holding various positions. Her dedication to the mission did not go unnoticed. She was offered a full-time position, and today Christine is responsible for quality, compliance, performance and outcomes, managing a small team.

She works behind the scenes, but her impact is felt every day, says Ilond Tshipau, VP of Programs at BDI. Christine has a passion to help others and support them on their way to achieving their goals. She has a remarkable team spirit, always asks the right questions, and seeks clarity where needed. She is always ready to tackle new responsibilities at work. Her caring nature is evident right away, and those close to her know they can always count on her to be the first to show up when support is needed and the last to leave, making sure everyone is OK.

Christine shared she wants to be a role model for those with disabilities. “I want to be an example for people with disabilities and show them that things can be done despite the limitations they think they may have,” she says.

Christine has grown personally and professionally, and we are honored to recognize her for her valuable impact on the BDI mission and the disability community.
