J&S Chemical today announced its partnership with Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) to supply the nonprofit hand sanitizer in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated shortage of cleaning products.
This partnership, which was birthed from an introduction through the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance, will help BDI continue to fulfill its mission of empowering and employing individuals with disabilities, even during these uncertain times. While the organization has transitioned its empowerment programming (i.e. benefits consulting, family support, etc.) to digital platforms, many of its employment services (i.e. emergency 911 response, call center operations, custodial/facility maintenance, etc.) require onsite work to be performed.
“This partnership is appreciated and timely,” said BDI CEO Larry Gluth. “Our top priority is to ensure the safety and health of our staff and participants. We’re strengthening our already robust sanitation procedures at each of our locations daily. With the help of J&S, we’re now able to do even more.”
BDI and J&S are the perfect match. While J&S has secured large amounts of raw materials to produce hand sanitizer, the company was limited in its packaging and distribution capabilities–BDI’s specialty and core business.
“I felt a moral obligation to utilize our manufacturing ability and technical expertise to support everyone involved in the fight against COVID-19,” said Tom Smith, J&S Managing Director.
Through this new venture, the company is doing just that by helping minimize some of the fear and frustration for companies in urgent need of cleaning products. BDI purchased 100 gallons of J&S Chemical-produced sanitizer within the first 10 business days of the partnership. This will be distributed at its call center locations and essential worksites, with plans to meet the growing demand by supplying other local companies with additional sanitizer.
