The Art of Never Giving Up

Juanita, at the BDI contact center

Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Juanita has always had a deep thirst for knowledge. She was a gifted student. While other kids her age were roaming the streets, she spent her summers at Columbia University taking science and mathematics classes. “I was in junior high school. I was 14 years old then and that was very exciting for me. I was one of those nerds out there,” she laughs.

Her passion for science led her to choose a career in the healthcare industry, where she worked as a medical assistant and pharmacy technician. She was thriving professionally while also raising two children, both adults now with their own families. However, behind closed doors, her personal life was not what she wanted for herself.

When the COVID -19 pandemic hit, Juanita moved to Atlanta, where she found a reason to stay – her new job as a contact center representative at Bobby Dodd Institute. Juanita was determined to keep her new job as it ignited a spark in her heart and soul.

Juanita’s passion for learning is something she has nurtured over the years, and it has played a significant role in her success on the job. When she joined BDI, she was determined to learn the ins and outs of contact center operations. She continuously learned because she aspired to become a subject matter expert. In addition, she focused on developing her leadership skills. She kept building on the success she had dreamed of since being hired.

“She became the go-to person whenever we had a new item or process. She learned how to do it and truly became a support person for others.”

Troy Farina, Senior Director of the Bobby Dodd
Institute Contact Center

She wants to be an inspiration to others and particularly to her team. In her words: “When they see me, I want them to believe that anything is possible.”
