BDI celebrates the family-owned company at its annual Breakfast with Champions event for creating opportunities for veterans and people of all abilities to work, thrive and achieve self-sufficiency
Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) will honor J&B Medical at its 2021 Breakfast with Champions event on March 18. More than 300 guests will gather virtually to celebrate this year’s honorees, deemed Luminaries of the Year, for their dedication to transforming, empowering and employing those living with disabilities.
“Our work with J&B Medical spans six years now, and it’s been a partnership that we’ve seen grow well beyond its beginnings,” said Larry Gluth, President and CEO of Bobby Dodd Institute. “The call center is one of many ways that BDI is continuing to strive towards its vision of an inclusive world where people of all abilities can lead independent and purposeful lives. We’re proud to have J&B Medical as a trusted partner and to celebrate the company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and excellence at this year’s Breakfast with Champions.”
J&B Medical is one of four luminaries this year. The global health care supplier with a wide range of medically related products including home health care, emergency-medical and medical-surgical supplies, and telehealth software, began its work with BDI in 2015 to hire veterans to fulfill its call center activities. The partnership that began with only four agents has since expanded to more than 80 representatives. The associates work at a facility in College Park, Georgia and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most have transitioned to a work from home environment. The ever-evolving relationship between BDI and J&B Medical has opened the door to new career paths for veterans, as well as individuals with disabilities, eager and ready to enter the civilian workforce.

BDI is an employment and empowerment leader, developing innovative programming and services that equip people with in-demand skills, all while fulfilling organization’s specific needs. In 2020, BDI served almost 1,400 veterans and individuals with disabilities and continues to average an 85% job retention rate.
